Magazine Theme Outline

I have chosen to to base my magazine on a theme of all the latest goings on in the world of music. It is going to include all the currents gossip and music releases. I have decided that I am going to create all my magazine pages on publisher as that is the program I used in my preliminary and am familiar with.
From my research on front covers, contents pages and double page spreads I have found that there are certain techniques I would like to include when I make my magazine.

Features that I want my magazine to include in the front cover are:
- I want it to appeal to both genders in order to maximise sales
- I want the title to be big and bold in order to make the magazine identifiable
- I want the code bar to be based in the bottom right hand corner with the price and the date
- I want what I feel to be the most important feature of the magazine to be at the top

- I want to include something that is being given away

- I want the free item to be presented with a bubble around it

- I want to use a clever picture that goes well with the text

- I want to include a box in the top left hand corner that shows there is something inside the magazine

- I want to include a plus section that sums up other stories that are in the magazine in one word

Features that I want my magazine to include in the contents are:
- I want to include a scaled down picture of my double page spread in my contents
- I want to put a short bit of text from the editor in the contents
- I want to add in an identifiable technique unique to my magazine
- I only want to use two colours on the front cover to prevent it looking to busy
- I want it to have a lay out easy to use with some structure
- I want to emphasize the main story but not overly emphasize it
- I want to include a big picture to explain an important article
- I want to use a quote from an interview to show that the article is an interview with out actually saying as a more interesting way of using space
- I want the page numbers to be a different colour to the colour that the articles are wrote in
- I want the contents to be clearly stated at the top along with the magazine's name and the date

Features that i want my magazine to include in the double page spread are:
- I want to use a font that is easy to read for the main writing on the article
- I want to have a big letter at the start of the article in order to make the start of the article obvious
- I want to include a quote from the article to attract the reader to read the article
- I want to include a picture that takes up both pages and relates cleverly with the text
- I want to include a title that cleverly merges the picture and the article
- I want to include a summery of what the article is about
- I want the summery to include a question that the article can answer in order to help entice the reader into reading the article
- I want to create a gap in the picture where the text goes
- I want to put the page number, magazine's name and the date in the bottom right had corner in order to add identity to the magazine



Front Cover Title Ideas

Music Mania- this name would work well for what my magazine is based on because music states that the magazine is about music and mania means crazy and over the top so it would be a music magazine telling you about all the crazy new thing that are going on. also by using two words that start with M (alliteration) it makes the title very appealing and catchy.

M.G.M (Music Gossip Magazine)- Music Gossip magazine is a very appropriate name for the magazine because it sums up what the magazine is going to be about very clearly. As it is a new magazine that i am designing to use a name like this would help to identify to its potential buyer exactly what the magazine is about at a glance. By abbreviating the title to M.G.M it makes the name sound allot more catchy and there for memorable.

Liven it Up- this title doesn't explain that it is a music magazine however it does have a play on meaning. this is because it says that the magazine is livening up the latest gossip but it could also mean livening up a party as music is usually the life and sol of a party.

Music MoJo- once again the music being in the title clearly states that it is a music magazine. I have then used MoJo after it because it because i thought that it would relate well to the theme of my magazine. As in 'you've got the MoJo' being the in thing.
