Contents 1
I started making my contents by establishing a main layout and colour scheme. Once I had decided on how I was going to layout my contents I then started adding in appropriate text that went with what was on the front cover and my chosen target audience. After that I worked out where to put in pictures so that they would look effective and appealing to the reader. I showed this with a blank white spaces so I new what size the picture needed to be and where it was going. I then decided what to put in the picture so to do this I added in page numbers to the ones that weren't directly on the text and I wrote down what type of picture I would need to take to put in them. To finish I then started adding in the techniques I said I would use in my contents.

Contents 2 (Finished contents)

Once I had added in the pictures I put some red boxes around them to help make them stand out. Another reason why I did this was to help the pictures blend well with the theme. After that I made some tweaks to the layout to co-heed with the pictures.
One of the pictures that I made was the 50 pounds album front cover. As it is quite basic i managed to make it in publisher and treansfer it as a picture. however even though it looks quite basic i think that it is very effective as it goes well with the writing. To view this better it is as seen below:

Another picture i edited is the one as seen below. I added a yellow tint to it using microsoft office picture manager. Also in order to make it gel with the writing i then decided to point out the artist in the picture and put a red ring around them. I used this picture because it is very different and it relates with its content really well. Also i think that the picture is a good eye grabber expecially with the yellow tint and i think that the reader would want to find out more about it.

Double page spread

Double Page Spread

For my double page spread i started by creating a rough layout of where every thing was going to go. In this lay out i included the picture, the title adn a gap for where my interview was going to go. I decided that i would put the title and picture on one side and the writing on the other side to make the article easy to reading.

Interview

In order to make my double page spread, I created a scenario that I was going to hold my interview in. I wrote it in the style of the interview that i researched. The scenario I came up with is as seen below:

We at MGM love a bit of the Jelly Tots. So we decided to arrange an interview with them to ask them about how they’re coping with mixing their school life with their music life. I went to the school that George and Natalie are studying at to catch up with them. as I walked into the room they were sitting on some comfy chairs chilling out and appearing to be laughing at something. They were dressed very casual and looked like normal students at a typical school. As I approached them they waved and pulled me up a comfy chair next to them. They were very welcoming and the atmosphere seemed very relaxed.

After I had created the scenario I started to draft up some questions that i would ask. In order to make it realistic I then decided that I would ask these questions to Natalie and George and record every thing they said. The questions I asked are as seen below:

  • Hello Jelly Tots how are you today?
  • You seem strangely relaxed?
  • I hear that you have got a new album coming out?
  • It must have been hard to make the album as well as doing your A levels?
  • What A levels are you taking?
  • What subject do you enjoy the most?
  • Do you find your self getting behind with your school work?
  • Do you ever have to miss school because you have to be somewhere else?
  • You have a tour coming up soon don’t you?
  • The dates of your tour is very close to your exams! How are you going to revise as well as do your tour?
  • Do your mum’s and dad’s come on tour with you?
  • Do they mind you missing school?
  • George I hear you are getting a lot of fan male from the ladies! How does you girl friend feel about that?
  • Does she come on your tours with you?
  • Natalie now you are quite famous have you notice a change in your friends with how they act around you?
  • So do you find school a nice release from it all?

To finish I then listened to George's and Natalie's answers to the questions that I asked them on the recording and filled it in. The interview was then ready to put into my double page spread.

Interview Summery

I said that I would put into my double page spread a brief summery of what the interview is about. I also said that in this brief summery I would include a question that would be answered by the text. What I came up with to summarise the interview is as seen below:

They are 2009’s Group of the year, they have a new album release coming up and a tour. So how are the Jelly Tots managing to do all that as well as school?

Finished Double Page Spread

Finally once i had added in the interview i then put in little tweeks to further advance the layout of my double page spread. Some of the tweeks i made are as seen below:

In my double page Spread I have included a Big W to symbolise the start of the article/interview.

I also desided to put in the page number, date and the magazine title for recognition and as an identifying feature.

Another item i put in was an arrow at the end of the section of writing. I did this to symbolise to the reader that the artical carried on to the next page.

front cover

Front Cover Stages

Front Cover 1

I started of making my front cover by putting in some of the items that I said that I would use.

The colours looked all over the place and i decided that the background didn't work as it made it look to busy.

Front Cover 2

Once I had took out the background I decided that the title looked to feminine so I changed the colour and the font from baby blue to red. Also I decided the picture was a very important part of the magazine so I brought it in front of the title and took away the blue bit around it.
I then started to play around with the colours and added in an extra story.
To make the picture add in with the title, I then decided to make some weighing scales and put school and music on either side for effect.

Front Cover 3

once again I decided that the title still wasn't right and it didn't stand out enough. To make it stand out better I made the outline thicker.
I didn't really think that the extra story was going to work on the front cover so I took it out and changed it for a free poster inside.
I also didn't think that the two colours was working as it looked to busy. So I changed it back to just red and white with a little yellow.

Front Cover 4

When i came back and looked at it again I didn't think the free poster inside worked well being yellow as it was hard to see and didn't really fit in. So I decided to change it to red to fit in with the colour scheme.

Front Cover 5
When I showed my front cover to some friends they said that they could tell that the school and music was part of the main story title.
So I decided to change it to the same font, size and colour
to make it more recognisable as part of the title.
Front Cover 6 (final front cover)
Finally when I came back to look at it for the last time I realised that I had forgotten to put in the bar code, price and date. Once I had made the bar code, price and date I put it in the bottom right hand corner where I said I would in the spare gap.
The last thing that I added in was the background because when I tried it with one I decided that it looked better
and made everything else on the page stand out more.
